Camp Bayou Park
Camp Bayou Park in Ruskin, Florida is a great place to walk some trails through the palmetto in hope of seeing some unusual plants or insects. The park has many trails, a butterfly garden, and an outdoor Seminole village exhibit. It has a miniature, outdoor, self-service library. It is also home to the Paleo Preserve Fossil Museum (Check the website for hours). With a little luck, one can see snakes, turtles, pigs, armadillos, and very many birds.
On the edge of the many loops of the Little Manatee River are a couple of benches to just watch the water (and the occasional lost canoeist) flow by.
